Troop 773 is an active troop based out of the historic El Segundo Scout House in El Segundo, California. We are a boy-led troop whose focus is leadership development, and are comprised of members from several South Bay communities. We are sponsored by the El Segundo Chapter of Rotary International, and supported by a dedicated parent base.
The troop regularly participates in a variety of outdoor activities including hiking, camping, backpacking, kayaking, canoeing, rock climbing and whitewater rafting. While advancement within the troop is encouraged, it is not the sole focus; we believe that a balance of outdoor fun and advancement work provides many opportunities to practice leadership skills, thereby helping the scout advance. Through this mix, we have produced more than double the national average of Eagle Scouts.
One of the troop's primary goals is to conduct a variety of community service projects throughout the year. Some of the recent beneficiaries of these projects include local churches, a nature conservancy, a school for the deaf, a homeless shelter, the American Diabetes Association and an animal shelter. We also earn funding for the troop through our annual Christmas Tree Sales every December.
We invite you and your son to give us a look. We believe that you'll like what you see!
Yours in Scouting,
Scoutmaster Doby
